New Farmers Market Vendors & Pancakes?!

Here’s your reminder for some upcoming events starting TODAY along with some news across local and national fronts!

June Events Calendar

This calendar is for the second half of June.

  • TODAY from 12 to 2 PM, come join me at Golden Blk Candle Lounge for Destiny’s Coworking Day! I am 100% sure I won’t be productive. 😅

  • ALSO TONIGHT from 6-10 PM, I am hosting (loose term there) a vegan meetup at Double Wide to try some of Chef Daddy’s Tex Mess at his new Wednesday pop-up location.

  • Pizza Verde’s board game day has moved from 4 PM to 12 PM!

  • Sculpt & Sip has a few more spots left for this weekend. Come get your tickets here. You'll get so much for this ticket!

    • 50-minute Yoga Sculpt class led by Plantz & Posez

    • THCV-infused energy drink from Varin

    • Recovery juice from W.D. Mystiks

    • Wellness Gift Bag w/ Vegan Snacks, CBD lotion + more!

  • Compatible Delights will start vending at the Dallas Farmers Market this weekend! They will fill the very apparent gap that is the vegan food options at DFM. We used to have Vegan Vibrations, Sierra Valley, Bam’s Vegan, and even a BBQ spot that would provide a vegan meat sandwich. So Compatible Delight’s presence is much needed now that they’re all gone. I also recently learned that Wilder Sweets is no longer fully vegan, so be sure to ask when purchasing your treats.

  • Beyond the Bun will start vending at the Richardson Farmers Market! This is great news as well since there aren’t a lot of options at this market either.

  • Big news! The Libertine bar is doing an exclusive menu for this Friday only in preparation of the DFW Veggie Lovers Bites & Brews meetup. They will be doing portabella mushroom fries AND bean or spinach and cheese tamales. You can RSVP via email [email protected] if you don’t have a Facebook account, or RSVP on Fb here.

National News

The Vegan Internet has not stopped talking about this big news! Denny’s has added plant-based pancakes to their menu nation-wide! From all the posts I saw about it, people were posting screenshots of the online menu instead of an official announcement post from Denny’s. Seems like this was a fairly quiet release and up to the sleuths of the internet to make it trending. Maybe they didn’t want the flak like when Cracker Barrel announced they were providing plant-based meat options and the anti-vegan crowd went berserk.

I’m hoping the flax seeds are visible to be tell the difference between these and their regular pancakes. 😬

What’s your opinion on this new item?!

Local News

The King of Late Night Vegan Bar Scenes, Chef Daddy’s Tex Mess, is now in Fort Worth again! On Monday nights, they will be at the Low Doubt bar. This along with the new Double Wide schedule on Wednesdays, they are a hot commodity right now. A few other bars have requested his services but there are only so many days of the week!

Four plant-based/vegans restaurants—Vegan Vibrations, Bam’s Vegan, Recipe Oak Cliff, ITSO Vegan—and omni restaurant, Sankofa Kitchen, which offers many plant-based options, were nominated for Favorite Vegan Restaurant by Southern Taste of Dallas!

Vendor Spotlight

Are you wanting to start up a vegan food business or need a place to prep? Do you need help navigating through state/city laws around food businesses, or are you worried about sharing a commercial kitchen with other non-vegan businesses?

TRU Plant-Based Kitchen is the only 100% plant-based commercial prep kitchen in DFW! Owned by powerhouse, Megha Shah, this woman-owned kitchen provides not only a safe space for vegan and plant-based vendors to do their food preps without worry, but they provide consulting for new startup businesses, like assistance with licensing and registration and much more.

Are you a plant-based/vegan vendor who isn’t necessarily making food but need a space to host an event that aligns with these core values? TRU is there for you as well as they offer rentals of their space. You’ll find things like Sip & Swap events, yoga and health/wellness events, and even buffet events.
