Maiden, Farmer's Market Raffle, Bam's Burger Concept, & CHFS Auction

An extensive list of updates from the last two weeks

It’s been a while, readers! Let me catch you up on some news—quick and dirty style. No pictures this time, until the end anyway.

Tomorrow & Sunday

Let me list the most time-sensitive updates first that are happening today or tomorrow!

  • Beyond the Bun has a Picnic for 2 raffle! You must make a Beyond the Bun purchase today, Saturday, at the Richardson Farmer’s Market while they’re there from 9 AM-1 PM. They are also debuting their cookie ice cream sandwich there!

  • You can find Las Almas Panadería at Deco Doll’s Market tonight from 7 PM to 2 AM. This is no ordinary market: it’s a 21+ only and the sun will be down and out, so you can have fun without the excessive heat! More info here.

  • Vegans of Plano will be having a meetup this Sunday at Vegan Vibrations from 12-2 PM.

  • I’m hosting meetup at Belenty’s in Forth Worth for their Sunday-only brunch menu, but looks like we’re at capacity. If you RSVPd already, thank you and see you there!

Laundry List of Updates

  • MAIDEN HAS CLOSED! Yet another vegan business has closed in Fort Worth. That’s like… what, 3 or 4 in the last year? Vida Cafe, Vice Burger, Maiden… I can’t keep track anymore. According to their IG post, they were locked out of the building when staff arrived. Read their post here.

  • Speaking of closures, Pizza Verde has officially closed for the month of July. As mentioned in the previous newsletter, their return is slated for August, but it’s still up in the air while they plan for a restructure of their business, which is to be more national wholesale-oriented. This means limited hours for the brick and mortar. Hopefully, they keep their weekend ours because that’s the only time Dallasites can travel an hour away for delicious pizza.

  • Compatible Delights food truck is now station at 1332 Evans Ave in Fort Worth. Be sure to follow them as they share their availability on their IG Stories. Luckily they were able to avoid a full closure by pivoting back to a non-brick and mortar concept. This seems to be the only way to be a viable business nowadays.

  • Congratulations to Veggie Tortillas! Their product is now being sold at Ann's Health Food Center & Market of Arlington! Be sure to pick up a bag if you’re in the area. Otherwise, you can find Veggie Tortillas at the Dallas Farmers Market on Saturdays and Cedar Market Ranch on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

  • Bam’s Vegan news! Two big updates from him:

    • His business, which recently moved to the PREP Dallas ghost kitchen in Dallas, is now morphing into a burger concept, one that does not solely rely on Beyond Meat or Impossible. He’s going back to the classics—handmade patties that make the taste unique! I for one do miss the excitement of a burger patty that isn’t the same as all the others. If you followed his second account, Bam’s Vegan Smoothies & Wraps, it has now been rebranded to Bam’s Vegan Burger Joint. Be sure to follow!

    • Due to popular demand, he is doing another brunch buffet, this time with unlimited mimosas. Be sure to buy your ticket ASAP as last time it was sold in just a 1-2 days.

  • Juiceland is now open in Fort Worth. You can find them by HEB on Heritage Trace Pkwy.

DVI Exclusive: Snooze AM Eatery Vegan Options

Read the latest response from Snooze AM Eatery about their new vegan menu items and their customization recommendations for additional options.

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news about our Summer Menu! We’ve added a brand-new vegan option that we hope becomes your next favorite: Almond Butter Coconut Porridge. This dish is as delicious as it sounds and was crafted with a lot of love by our culinary team. We can’t wait for you to try it!

We understand that seeing some items leave the menu can be disappointing, especially if they’ve been your go-to favorites. Thanks to feedback from Guests like you, we’ve decided to keep both the Vegan Bliss Pancakes and tofu as part of our secret menu at select Snooze locations! The good news is that Walnut Hill does carry these items, so while the Vegan Bliss Pancakes are no longer featured on our menu, they can still be made upon request. Plus, tofu remains an ingredient in our kitchen for those who love to include it in their dishes.

The good news is that we still have plenty of amazing options for our plant-based Guests! Here are some tips to make the most of our menu as a vegan:

- Almond Butter Coconut Porridge is fully vegan-friendly, just as it is!

- Greens & Grains can be made vegan by removing the feta and egg. (The grains mix has a roasted veggie base that contains white sugar.)

- Bravocado Toast can be customized by removing the eggs, Parmesan from the salad, and red onion honey jam if honey-free is preferred.

- Sweet Potato Veggie Smash Up works without the egg, with the pickled red onions also optional (they do contain white sugar).

- Spuds Deluxe becomes a plant-based powerhouse by removing the eggs and cheese and adding veggies tofu or Abbot’s chorizo.

- Taco Options can be vegan by removing eggs, cheese, and hollandaise, then adding veggies, tofu or Abbot’s chorizo.

- Burritos can be tailored similarly—swap the eggs and cheese for veggies, tofu or Abbot’s chorizo.

- Sides to Love: Tofu, Abbot’s chorizo, green salad without Parmesan, black beans without Cotija, hash browns, or roasted sweet potatoes.

- Huevos Rancheros (a fun secret menu item!) can also go vegan by removing eggs and cheese while adding veggies, tofu or Abbot’s chorizo.
