JS Burgers, WF Meetup, Voyage Dallas, Vegan Pop-Ups, and DVI Hiatus

Hello again, readers. This will be the last newsletter for the month of July. I will be taking a stepping away from all DVI social media activity and will resume in August.

Without further ado, let’s move onto the latest news I’ve collected.

News

  • JS International Grill had operated a ghost kitchen in Farmers Branch under the name JS Vegan Burger. They soon stopped operation there and they moved back to the home base of their Richardson restaurant, near Alamo Drafthouse. They made a surprise announcement that JS Vegan Burger is coming back but this time with a new brick-and-mortar location in DeSoto! Check their announcement here.

  • Cultivar Coffee, in the White Rock area, has a vegan breakfast sandwich, which is suspiciously under-advertised.

  • The Happy Vegan Food Truck is undergoing maintenance and will not be at the the Garland Square this Thursday or Friday.

  • ITSO Vegan won the Southern Taste of Dallas Awards for Dallas Favorite Vegan Restaurant!

  • The Zend: Final Farm & Sanctuary is holding a fundraiser to purchase their very own hydraulic lift for the piggies🐽. This will help them with the much needed nail and teeth trims! To donate, click here.

  • There is still time to donate a vegan good or service to the Second Annual Heart of Texas Summer Nights Auction for Cloven Heart Farm Sanctuary! Deadline is August 5th. For those who’d like enter the auction, virtual doors open August 8th and close on the 24th.

Events

  • Bam’s Vegan Brunch Buffet is SOLD OUT. I was able to snag myself a ticket again. If you missed out on this second brunch, be sure to subscribe to his newsletter so you don’t miss out for the next one! You should get a pop-up to sign-up when you visit his site.

  • Charmed By Missa is doing a last minute pop-up at Dallas Sweet Tooth Festival in Lofty Spaces in Dallas this Sunday July 27th from 12-6 PM. The event is free to get in. Tickets here.

  • Vegan Heat announced a Pasta & Vibes event on Tuesday, July 29th at their Revolving Kitchen location in Fairview from 6-9 PM. A $45 ticket gets you the ingredients for making spaghetti, some wine, and a swag bag.

  • Las Almas Panadería is a busy bee when it comes to pop-ups. They’ve made a very helpful calendar to stalk them with precision! 😂 See them this weekend at Vista Mall.

Activism Event

In reaction to the recent news where Ian McKeever was found not guilty by a jury of his peers for the VERY CLEAR animal abuse towards a horse named Ryder—who was seen collapsing while drawing a carriage, and then months later died—there is a protest by Ban Horse Carriages Dallas and other PETA supporters in Dallas this Saturday from 5:30-6:30 PM at Market-Ross Place. You can RSVP via FB here or via email to [email protected].

I don’t even want to type the summary of what happened to Ryder because it’s upsetting and infuriating. You can read his heartbreaking story and learn about Ryder’s Law that we hope will be put into effect.

Meetups

  • Get Local Vegan, one of the DFW vegan social meetup groups, is getting a Whole Foods tour (with potential freebies) at the Addison location this Saturday, July 26th at 12 PM. This will be followed by a lunch, taking advantage of their hot bar, salad bar, and made-to-order vegan pizza.

  • DFW Vegan Ladies will be doing a Swirled Peace meetup this Sunday at 12 PM. You will need to be a member of the Fb group to RSVP officially, but if you’re a lady and don’t use Fb, feel free come by anyway to make friends!

Voyage Dallas Interview

I recently had the opportunity to have my very first interview about Dallas Vegan Insider with Voyage Dallas. I consider this to be a pretty cool accomplishment! If you’d like to read it, I’ve linked it below.
