DVI Returns... With a List of New Vendors, Updates, and More!
Hi, everyone. This week I returned from my break and started jotting down updates I ran across through the socials. And it’s a lot to run through, so excuse the brevity of details but also the length of this newsletter. I urge you to read until the end.
Local Vendor News
A little late but still relevant:
Chef Daddy's Tex Mess now has Taco Tuesdays at Fusion Ink Hookah Lounge in Fort Worth! TCU students and faculty get a special discount.
Chef Mercado’s Kitchen has a new meal prep menu for the month.
Cinnaholic Richardson extended their hours for early risers! Doors open at 6 AM and it gets you double loyalty points. Announcement here.
Belenty’s Love Mexican Restaurant has two new deals:
They have a Tuesday Combo special now (2 classic burgers w/ fries and drink for $25)
On Sundays, kids can eat free pancakes 🥞
Iconic Vegan Cafe is now doing breakfast starting at 7 AM if you call in. You can pick it up through the drive-through window. Walk-ins welcome starting at 9 AM when Ann’s Health Food Center & Market opens. Additional details here.
Pizza Verde has announced their return will be in September. More details to come on their socials (probably by the time this is published).
Sweet Somethin’, which sells both omni and vegan-friendly desserts and cakes at Every Day Works coffee shop in Oak Cliff is bringing back vegan muffins for a limited time this weekend! And don’t forget to get some amazing vegan sandwiches by Chef Frank while he’s there on weekends from 10-2PM.
Yazzi Cakes is doing a cupcake sale! They said pickup is in Dallas from the 13th through the 16th. Because I’m late on the announcement, it’s worth reaching out to see if you can still order.
In case you didn’t know, Neitly Vegan Sweets, who vends every weekend at the Frisco Fresh Market, has a monthly subscription called The Batch Drop, where you get four delicious flavors of cookies in the mail, with the flavors rotating every month!
I did my first ever unboxing video with their August batch drop box. Cats not included.
@dallasveganinsider Unbox the August Batch Drop cookie box from @Neitly Vegan Sweets with me with cats, bloopers, and all! #vegan #vegantiktok #cats #unboxing... See more
Big Business News
Remember a few newsletter ago about Snooze AM Eatery’s decision of going away from readily available vegan options on their menu? Well, they received a LOT of feedback from customers, including myself, and they actually listened!
They are keeping the Vegan Banana Bliss pancakes and the Tofu Scramble. Check out their humorous reel about it!
In a (not so) shocking turn of events, Eleven Madison Park, the 3-Michelin star upscale restaurant in New York that went fully plant based in 2022 and received accolades and praise from the vegan community, along with multiple news headlines and interviews, is going back to serving meat. This was due to costs.
Funny how in interviews, they state that this move is to create a more “inclusionary” dining experience, when in fact plant-based and vegan food is already inclusionary… because IT’S. JUST. FOOD.
In lighter news, Grain & Berry just opened up another location in Richardson. If you’ve not heard of them, they are a “superfood” cafe, similar to JuiceLand, that has a variety of vegan-friendly options including plant-based meats!
New Vendors & Finds!
A new food truck in Bishop Arts has hit the scene and I’m excited! Let’s welcome La Combi-gotes food truck. (Those who are Mexican will understand the name pun.) They serve vegetarian/vegan Mexican cuisine. Their grand opening was this past Sunday, August the 10th. I may be going this weekend!

Guilt Free Temptations is a vegan ice cream vendor who is at the Farmers Market at Firewheel Mall in Garland every weekend. Be sure to follow them for updates.
Have you seen or tried Good Eat’n snack bags yet? Good Eat’n is a new venture by Chris Paul, point guard for the LA Clippers who has been plant-based since 2019. They come in five flavors: Hot Hot Puffs, Nacho Cheez, Big Dill Ranch, Cookies & Cream, and Cinnamon Sugar! I’ve had the first three flavors so far and I’m in love.
“Now Hiring”
Iconic Vegan Cafe is hiring for both juicer and cashier positions.
Pizza Verde is now hiring for all positions.
Swirled Peace is looking for a DJ for their future events every month on the second Saturday and fourth Sunday. If you know anyone interested, send them this post.
La Combi-gotes is looking for cashiers for first and second shift. Announcement here.
For the Animals
Cloven Heart Farm Sanctuary (CHFS)
Last Wednesday, I received heartbreaking news from Davy, the owner of CHFS, that the beautiful goat, Seraphina, whose sponsorship all started because she shared a name with my Dad, had passed away. She had been sick for several weeks, and little did we know it was worst than it appeared to be. I made a little post for her. I was glad to have met her in person from my trip to CHFS, but I wish I had spent more time and gotten more videos and pictures.
With all the medical care and food needed to help Seraphina’s friends and family, CHFS is always in need of funding, which brings us to their latest auction!
There are so many goodies up for auction this year: tickets to Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Six Flags, Hurricane Harbor, K1 Speed, membership to Club Car Wash, zip lining in Sugar Land, fun places in Waco and Austin, along with jewelry, commissioned art pieces, apparel, services, and even sweet treats from a local favorite, Las Almas Panadería!
I hope you consider participating in their auction! If you don’t find anything that tickles your fancy, they also have sponsorships and animal treats/supplies that you can donate towards.
The auctions ends August 24th.
Because they are in Waco where the vegan community is practically non-existent, it is apparent from the lack of volunteers and donations that they aren’t getting the love that they deserve. I don’t want them to close down! If anyone has a “Sugar Parent” who wouldn’t mind writing a 4-5 figure check… Please send them over CHFS’s way!
Ban Horse Carriages Dallas (BHCD)
As mentioned in my previous newsletter, BHCD had a protest last month in Downtown Dallas, sparked by the announcement that Ryder’s “owner” was found not guilty of animal cruelty in the case of his death. Since that protest, yet another poor soul, Lady, collapsed and died in New York. The online images and videos were truly depressing to see. Her passing has again reignited support across cities to ban horse carriages. Even the Central Park Conservancy, who have been historically quiet on this topic, have called for an end on the cruel practice.
BHCD is planning to have a protest every last Saturday of the month, if you would like to join. You can find the Fb event here, or can RSVP with an email to Gloria the organizer, [email protected].
Cinnaholic Richardson & North Texas Wildlife Center Fundraiser
These two are combining forces in order to fundraise for NTWC’s ability to secure a new facility as mandated by the city. On Saturday, August 23rd, 10% of all sales will be going towards NTWC. The Center will also be there with a merch table from 12-5 PM! If you have a sweet tooth and a sweet heart, be sure to visit that day.
Events Calendar

I’m doing another On a Work Night?! meetup at Double Wide. Chef Hank is there every 3rd Wednesday of the month BUT this month he is making a special item (that may or may not have been inspired by me or it’s just because great minds think alike). And I am very excited to get it! The clue: 🌮🔔. Can you guess what it will be?
Let’s welcome PCG Nutrition creator, Maciah Grace to the scene for her first dining event on the 30th! She has early bird tickets available August 16th, which you can purchase here, along with full price tickets after that date.
Thanks for getting to the end. I know it was a lot. Let me know if this was helpful or if you have any feedback that will make this newsletter better.
